The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Santa Clara Broncos face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at the Leavey Center. When these two teams faced off last February it was Gonzaga that secured the 81-69 victory.
Gonzaga comes into this game with a 13-3 record overall and they have gone 4-10-1 against the spread. Gonzga hasn’t been as dominant this season, and in the last game against San Franciso they were almost beaten. They had to outscore San Francisco 41-29 in the second half to secure the two point victory. The Bulldogs are averaging 86.3 points while their defense is giving up 72.8 points per game. The offense is 6th best in basketball, but the defense has been a major issue. Drew Timme is averaging 21.9 points while shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from behind the three point line.
On the other side of this matchup is Santa Clara who sits with a 14-4 record overall and they have gone 9-8 against the spread. In the last game against Pepperdine the offense scored 89 points, and they won by 10 points. Brandin Podziemski had a strong game finishing with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Santa Clara is averaging 74.2 points while their defense is giving up 69.3 points per game. Santa Clara wants to push the pace but in this game the defense is going to need to make enough stops.
