Golf picks: Charles Schwab Challenge best bets from Diane Knox Balas

We got the win…finally! Brooks Koepka scored his fifth Major Championship title at Oak Hill, and his third PGA Championship victory. I had him as my top outright favorite at +2200 and was screaming at the TV on Sunday evening. I have to say though, it was tough to root against my fellow Euro Viktor Hovland, who's still seeking his first Major win having been close a handful of times now.'

The Koepka pick was an interesting one at the start of last week, and you may be looking at it now as a no-brainer. His Major form is simply outstanding, but since he went to LIV Golf, we just haven't seen too much of his game. His runner-up finish at the Masters, combined with his recent success on the LIV tour, was enough to categorize him as a favorite for the PGA Championship, but those 22/1 odds were excellent! I hope you had him, too.

Brooks may be the new PGA Champion, but PGA Professional Michael Block is the PEOPLE'S champion. He won the hearts of golf fans all over the world with his amazing play and fantastic attitude, but the cherry on top of the 'Sunday' sundae was his ace on the 15th hole. An unreal moment of golf. Block is back in action this week, but more on that later…

This week, the PGA Tour continues the Texas swing with the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club. We get to see another gem of a course this week in Colonial Country Club, the longest-running host course on the Tour schedule.'Sam Burns returns as defending champion after beating Scottie Scheffler in a playoff last year. Another big hitter, Jason Kokrak, won the year before on what has typically been known as a shorter, positional golf course that mitigates the advantage of distance off the tee.
