Golden State Warriors vs. Utah Jazz Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-7-2022

Golden State Warriors (13-12) vs. Utah Jazz (14-12)

The Golden State Warriors head to Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday night to face off against the Utah Jazz for the second time this season. Back on November 25, the Warriors beat the Jazz as 8-point home favorites, and the reigning NBA champs open as slight road favorites this time around.

Golden State is without Andre Iguodala (hip), while Andrew Wiggins (adductor tightness) is questionable to play. On the other side, Utah might come in full strength, as both Mike Conley (knee) and Rudy Gay (hand) are listed as probable.

After a couple of wins over Chicago 119-111 and Houston 120-101, the Golden State Warriors (13-12; 11-14 ATS) wrapped up a three-game homestand with a 112-104 defeat against the Indiana Pacers this past Monday. The Dubs lost the first quarter 34-21 and trailed the Pacers for most of the game while shooting just 40.4% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the 3-point line (13-for-44).

Klay Thompson dropped 28 points on the Pacers, going 8-for-16 from downtown. Jordan Poole replaced injured Andrew Wiggins in the starting lineup and finished with 23 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Steph Curry had an awful game, notching 12 points on 3-for-17 shooting from the field.

“I just thought they came in and outplayed us, out-coached us. It was almost a carbon copy of la st year’s game, with different personnel, obviously,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr said. “But the same thing happened last year: They had three or four guys out, and they came in and took it to us. That first quarter, it was obvious just right away just how fast and athletic and aggressive they were. We were swimming upstream the entire night.”

The Warriors had a bad game against the Pacers, but their offense has improved a lot over the last few weeks. Now, the Dubs are racking up 113.6 points per 100 possessions (10th in the NBA) on 48.1% shooting from the field (7th) and 37.9% from beyond the arc (5th). They have a lot of room for improvement on the defensive side of things. The Warriors rank 17th in the league in points allowed per 100 possessions (112.6) and 29th in opposing free-throw attempts per 100 possessions (25.5).
