Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-5-2022

Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech will both be looking to snap losing streaks when they square off on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets strung together two straight games in early October before losing to Virginia and Florida State in their last two games. Virginia Tech is riding a five-game losing skid, including a 22-21 heartbreaker at then-No. 24 NC State last Thursday.

Georgia Tech’s bowl hopes are quickly fading, especially with games against No. 17 North Carolina and No. 3 Georgia still left on the calendar. The Yellow Jackets got off to a 1-3 start this season, with their lone win coming against Western Carolina. They bounced back with an impressive two-game stretch, beating No. 24 Pittsburgh and Duke in early October. Georgia Tech has not been able to get anything going offensively in its last two games, scoring nine points against Virginia and 16 points against Florida State. The Yellow Jackets fired head coach Geoff Collins earlier this season, leaving Brent Key as the interim coach.

Key led the team to wins over the Panthers and Blue Devils, but he will be trying to turn things around after this losing skid. The Yellow Jackets gave up 642 yards against Florida State, and their offense gained just 24 yards in the first half. Freshman quarterback Zach Pyron completed 18 of 28 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown. Fortunately for Georgia Tech, starter Jeff Sims is expected to return from a sprained foot. He has completed 58.5% of his passes for 1,115 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions this season. Sims has also rushed for 302 yards and a touchdown, while running back Hassan Hall leads the rushing attack with 83 carries for 417 yards.
