Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina (UNC) Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-19-2022

This Saturday, the (4-6) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will travel to Chapel Hill, NC to take on the (9-1) North Carolina Tar Heels. Kickoff will be at 5:30 PM EST inside Kenan Stadium. The last times that these two teams matched up, the Yellow Jackets walked away with a 45-22 win.

Georgia Tech is coming into this matchup after losing to the Miami Hurricanes, 35-14. They couldn't slow them down, as the Yellow Jackets will have to be better on both sides of the field if they want to challenge the Tar Heels on the road.

The UNC Tar Heels are entering this one after taking down Wake Forest, 36-34. The Tar Heels showed up on the offensive side of the field, as they have one of the best passing attacks in the nation. They will have to stay hot on the offensive side of the field if they want to defend their home field in this one.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets currently sit in fifth place in the ACC Coastal division. They have also lost three of their last four games, as they continue to slide in the wrong direction. On offense, Georgia Tech is scoring 17.1 points per game and they are averaging 328.4 total yards. This is the 125th most points scored per game and the 113th most yards. They have leaned on their rushing attack this season, as they are averaging 138 rushing yards per game. This is the 85th most in the country, as the Yellow Jackets will lean on Hassan Hall. Hall has recorded 473 yards this season and he is averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Georgia Tech will also be turning to their third-string quarterback in this one, as they will be without Jeff Simms and Zach Pyron. Zach Gibson will get the start, as he has thrown for one touchdo wn and two interceptions this season. The Yellow Jackets are throwing for 190.4 yards per game, which is the 112th most in the nation. Gibson will look to get the ball to Nate McCollum, as he is the team's leading receiver. He has recorded 590 yards this season and three touchdowns.

On defense, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have continued to give up points. They are currently surrendering 28.7 points per game and 406.5 total yards. This is the 86th least amount of points given up per game and the 96th most total yards. Their secondary has been the strongest part of this defense, as they are only allowing 220.4 passing yards per game. This is the 58th least amount of yards allowed through the air, as they have continued to stop the pass. Georgia Techs' front seven hasn't been as impressive, though. They are allowing 186.6 rushing yards per game, which is the 111th most in the country. They have to rally to ward the ball as a team and consistently tackle if they want to slow the Tar Heel's rushing attack down.

Injury Report: Jeff Sims QB (Foot) and Zach Pyron QB (Shoulder) are both out.
