Georgia Tech vs. Louisville Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-1-2023

It’s a battle of programs from the ACC on the hardwood as a pair of struggling teams look to earn a win in the Bluegrass State. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are on the road as they make the trip to face the Louisville Cardinals Wednesday night. Georgia Tech was crushed 86-43 at home by Duke in their previous contest, failing to cover as a 9.5-point underdog Saturday. Louisville was beaten 76-62 on the road by Notre Dame in their previous game Saturday afternoon, failing to cover as a nine-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Cardinals own a 25-14 advantage and have won 12 of the last 13 meetings, including three straight. In the most recent meeting, Louisville earned an 84-74 win in the first round of the ACC Tournament on March 8, 2022.

Georgia Tech saw their losing streak reach seven as they were clobbered at home by Duke Saturday in their previous game. The Yellow Jackets fell to 8-13 overall and are 14th in the 15-team ACC with a 1-10 mark in conference play. Against Duke, Georgia Tech never led as they gave up a three-pointer to start the game and they never got even after that. The Yellow Jackets trailed 43-25 at the half and never got closer than that in the second half as the Blue Devils poured it on. Georgia Tech shot only 30.9% from the field, including five of 22 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 43-22. Tristan Maxwell was the lone player in double figures for the Yellow Jackets with 10 points off the bench.

The Yellow Jackets put up an average of 67.7 points per game offensively, putting them 286th in the nation, which is why the team has their ups and downs this season. Georgia Tech pulls down 35.6 rebounds per contest (155th) while dishing out 13.6 assists per game. The Yellow Jackets are 235th in the nation in scoring defense as they give up 71.3 points per game this season. Miles Kelly is leading the team with 13 points per game as the lone player averaging in double figures this season. Dallan Coleman (9.5 points, 2.8 rebounds) is a valuable secondary scoring option. Deivon Smith (eight points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists), Javon Franklin, Jalon Moore, Lance Terry, Kyle Sturdivant, Rodney Howard and Tristan Maxwell are guys that have to contribute for coach Josh Pastner. Georgia Tech shoots 41.6% from the floor as a team this season. The Yellow Jackets shoot 31.2% from beyond the arc as the team knocks down an average of 6.8 three-pointers per game. Georgia Tech is below average at the charity stripe as they shoot 69.1% as a team this season.
