Georgia State vs. Army Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-1-2022

Georgia State will try to pick up its first win of the season when it travels to Army on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers have played a tough schedule this year, facing South Carolina, North Carolina and Coastal Carolina. Army lost its first two games of the season before bouncing back with a 49-10 win over Villanova its last time out.

Georgia State will be on the road for the second time this season, as it lost to South Carolina in a 35-14 final in its season opener. The Panthers went on to lose three consecutive home games after that, including losses to North Carolina, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina. They were 19.5-point favorites in the 42-41 loss to the 49ers, but they were underdogs in the other three losses. Their offense has not been their weakness this season, as they have scored at least 24 points in three of their four games. They put up 28 points against North Carolina in Week 2, while scoring 24 points last week.

Senior quarterback Darren Grainger has completed 52.7% of his passes for 871 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions, so he will be looking to improve on his efficiency. Junior wide receiver Jamari Thrash has caught 21 passes for 381 yards, while sophomore wideout Robert Lewis has 13 catches for 271 yards and five touchdowns. Four players have rushed for at least 165 yards, with Grainger showing his dual-threat ability (185 rushing yards). Their defense needs to show some massive improvement this week, as they have allowed 35-plus points in every game this season. They are giving up more than 400 yards per game, including 141.4 on the ground.
