The Georgia Southern Eagles and San Jose State Spartans face off on Tuesday in a college basketball showdown at the Event Center Arena.
Georgia Southern took a little step back last season, but this is a team that still feels they can be a quality team this season. Georgia Southern wants to slow down the pace of games and really put pressure on their opponent's offense. Cam Bryant and Andrei Savrasov are the top two defenders on the team. Temple transfer Tai Strickland has been brought in, and he is also a defense-first player. In this game, if Georgia Southern wants a chance to win this game, the defense is going to need to lockdown.
On the other side of this matchup is San Jose State who has Tim Miles in charge for his second season. Miles has done a great job of turning around projects during his career and the hope is this can be a success story. Omari Moore is back after averaging 13.2 points while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from behind the three-point line. Former Ohio State big man Ibrahima Diallo was banged up last season, but is healthy coming into this season, and will need to be a playmaker in this game. He has a 7-8 wingspan and will be disruptive inside if he can stay healthy.
