George Washington vs. Richmond Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-4-2023

George Washington will be looking to build on its win at Loyola Chicago when it travels to Richmond on Wednesday night. The Colonials snapped their three-game losing streak with that win over the Ramblers. Richmond had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 62-58 loss at George Mason on Saturday.

George Washington got off to a strong start this season, winning five of its first seven games. The Colonials suffered losses to Hofstra and UC San Diego during that stretch. They have not found the same level of success since then, losing five of their last seven games. Their 69-64 loss to American three weeks ago was particularly disappointing, as they were 5.5-point favorites in that contest. Their losses to Radford, Washington State, Pepperdine and Seattle all came as underdogs, but they only covered the spread once during that stretch. They were able to get back on track on Saturday, picking up a 97-87 upset win against Loyola Chicago as 8-point underdogs.

The Colonials have relied on their strong offense to win games so far this season. They rank fifth nationally in 2-point percentage (59.4) and No. 22 in KenPom’s effective field goal percentage (55.0). George Washington is also knocking down 75.8% of its free-throw attempts and does a good job of limiting turnovers. It will be facing a Richmond defense that is No. 95 in field goal percentage and No. 274 in turnover rate. Senior guard James Bishop IV leads George Washington with 21.9 points, 5.0 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game after pouring in 40 points against Loyola Chicago. Senior guard Brendan Adams has completed George Washington’s impressive duo, scoring 17.0 points per game.
