Fresno State vs. Boise State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-3-2022

The Boise State Broncos play host to the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday with the Mountain West title on the line, from Albertsons Stadium. These two have already met once this season in Boise, with the Broncos coming away with the 20-point win back in October. Since then though, the Bulldogs have reeled off seven straight wins, as they look for revenge in this one. The Broncos have four wins in a row coming into this one and would love nothing more than to secure the season sweep over the Bulldogs. This expects to be tighter than the first meeting, though the Bulldogs will need to bring it if they want to upset the Broncos.

Fresno State started the season reeling, at one point losing three straight games, though they have done well to fight back and find their way into the conference title game. Wins have come with relative ease of late, winning four of their last six by double-digits. The concern is that they struggled with Boise State in the first meeting of the season and while they have certainly improved since then, the schedule has been quite easy of late as well. With a 3-3 record on the road, this group isn't a stranger to success away from home, though having to grab the win at Boise State is an entirely new ask.

One key advantage over the last few weeks that has definitely helped this group find success, has been their ability to get healthy. Coming into this weekend, the Bulldogs don't have any injuries to worry about, and having a full complement of players whom they can lean on their depth, is sure to help.

As Jake Haener (17 touchdowns, 3 interceptions) has returned under center after his injury earlier in the season, the Bulldogs have become tougher and tougher to take down by the week. Having a 1,000-yard rusher in Jordan Mims (14 touchdowns) doesn't hurt either. Fresno State has the 24th-ranked passing offense and while the ground game has taken a back seat in recent weeks, it's reassuring to know they have talent there. With Boise State's pass defense sitting pretty, there's no doubt that Fresno State will need to find some success through the air.
