Fresno State at UCONN – 10/1/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Fresno State Bulldogs and UConn Huskies face off on Saturday in a Week 5 college football showdown at Rentschler Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Fresno State that secured the 45-0 victory.

Fresno State comes into this game with a 1-2 record overall and the one win came in the last game against Cal Poly. Fresno State scored 21 points in the 1st quarter and that was enough for a comfortable victory. Under center for Cal Poly is Jaden Jones and he completed 28 of his 38 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown and zero interceptions. Quarterback Jake Haener is still dealing with an ankle injury, and he won’t be able to suit up in this game. The two losses for Fresno State came against Oregon State and USC. Fresno State is averaging 28 points while their defense is giving up 29 points per game.

On the other side of this matchup is the UConn Huskies who sit with a 1-4 record and it looks like it’s going to be another long season. The only win for UConn came against Central Connecticut State. In the last game against NC State, the offense only managed 10 points while the defense gave up 41 points and that led to the defeat. At the end of the first half, UConn was down 17-0 and they never got the offense going. The Huskies are averaging 14.4 points while their defense is giving up 36.4 points per game. The offense is ranked 125th in the league while their defense is ranked 118th.
