Florida vs. Georgia Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-29-2022

No. 1 Georgia (7-0 SU, 3-4 ATS, 4-0 SEC) travels to Jacksonville to face Florida (4-3 SU, 4-3 ATS, 1-3 SEC) for the World's Largest Cocktail Party on Saturday at 3:30pmET.

Last season, the Bulldogs crushed the Gators 34-7 as a 14-point favorite.

Both teams are coming off byes as Florida fell to LSU at home 45-35 as a 1.5-point favorite on Oct. 15. The Bulldogs predictably destroyed Vanderbilt 55-0 on the same day.

At 1-3 in the SEC, Florida is not going to the CFP Playoffs after losing to LSU. They have one SEC win and it's over Missouri 24-17 on Oct. 8. However, they aren't that far away after opening the season with a 29-26 win over Utah, who was ranked No. 7 at the time. First-year coach Billy Napier has a talented squad, but there are holes, especially on the defensive side. Georgia will try and take advantage of a run defense that allows 185 yards per game. The main issue has been getting off the field on third downs. The Gators rank 130th out of 131 teams in allowing opponents to convert third downs at 52.6%. In the LSU loss, they gave up 179 yards on the ground and 349 in the air.

The Gators couldn't slow down Jayden Daniels, who toss for three TDs and ran for three TDs and 44 yards. On the offensive side, QB Anthony Richardson completed 15 of 25 for 185 yards and a TD. He also ran for 109 yards and a score.

Richardson is a potential star as a dual-threat QB, but needs to be more consistent. Last season, his three turnovers led to three touchdowns Bulldogs TDs in Georgia's 34-17 win. This season, he's completing just 56.5% of his passes for 1,367 yards with six TDs and seven picks. He ranks second on the team in rushing, behind Montrell Johnson (425 yds, 7 TDs), with 395 yards (7.1ypc) and six TDs. The top targets are 6-4 WR Justin Shorter, who had 18 catches for 405 yards and two TDs and Xzavier Henderson (27 for 252 yds, 1 TD).
