Florida State Seminoles Bowl Game History (Wins, Appearances and All-Time Record)

Bowl game season is underway after an exciting 2022 college football campaign. One successful program taking part in the postseason once again is the Florida State Seminoles, who will face Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 29.

Here's everything you need to know about Florida State's bowl game history before making its next appearance.

Florida State Bowl Game History

College football fans shouldn't be surprised to learn Florida State has built an impressive bowl game history over the years. The Seminoles have played in a whopping 49 bowl games prior to their Cheez-It Bowl matchup on Thursday night and have bounced back after not gaining bowl eligibility last year.

Florida State's first bowl appearance came in the 1903 Florida Times-Unions' Championship Cup. The Seminoles played Stetson to a 5-5 tie and their first bowl win did not come until 47 years later. They took down the Wofford Terriers, 19-6, during the 1950 Cigar Bowl under head coach Don Veller.

The Seminoles' most recent bowl appearance came in the 2019 Sun Bowl under the guidance of head coach Mike Norvell. Florida State fell short in a 20-14 loss to Arizona State, which ended its two-game bowl winning streak. It will get a chance to start a new streak in front of the Orlando crowd.
