Florida State (FSU) vs. Louisville Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-16-2022

The Louisville Cardinals (1-1) will host the Florida State Seminoles (2-0) on Friday night in an ACC matchup.  The Noles found themselves a -2.5 point favorite as on Wednesday afternoon with the total sitting at 56.5. Last season the Cardinals went to Tallahassee and beat Florida State 31-23 straight-up as a 9.5-point dog. Head-to-head Louisville has covered the spread in five of the last six meetings dating back to 2016.

The Noles went 5-7 last season and 4-4 in the ACC. With eight returning starters on each side of the poll, Florida State came into this season with 2 out of 164 first-place votes to win the ACC according to the Preseason Poll. They were also selected to finish fifth in the Atlantic Division, one spot below Louisville.

Florida State opened the season with a 47-7 win over Duquesne and followed that up with a dramatic 24-23 win over LSU, which was aided by a missed Tigers extra point that would have sent the game into overtime.

Through the first two games, the Noles are averaging 246 passing yards per game and 269 on the ground. Quarterback Jordan Travis, who began his career at Louisville in 2018, is in his fourth season with the Noles. He has completed 64.6% of his passes with two touchdowns this season. Last year against the Cardinals Travis did not play.

The Noles have five team sacks and are allowing just 140 passing yards and 116 rushing yards per game defensively.
