The Florida Panthers face the Washington Capitals with both teams off to rocky starts to the season. The Panthers have a 6-4-1 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division while the Capitals have a 5-4-1 record and are in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to improve in the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Panthers are having a promising season but hope their offense improves, scoring only 2.82 goals per game. Sam Reinhart, Matthew Tkachuk, and Aleksander Barkov have combined for 13 goals and 20 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three skaters have three goals or more and opposing defenses can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has stepped up, allowing only 2.91 with only 15 goals in the last six games. Gustav Forsling and Dmitry Kulikov have combined for 1.8 defensive point shares and 34 blocked shots to lead the top two pairings while Niko Mikkola and Oliver Ekman-Larsson have combined for 1.1 defensive point shares to give the Panthers multiple great defensive pairings. In addition, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been great with a .904 save percentage and a 2.68 goals-against average on 251 shots with 0.1 goals save d above average.
