The Florida Panthers face the New Jersey Devils with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Panthers were in the Stanley Cup Final last season but have lost their first two games this year. The Devils won their opening night game but then dropped the next game in overtime. The Panthers look to rebound in the Atlantic Division while the Devils hope to remain near the top of the Metropolitan Division and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Panthers are off to a rough start to the season with their offense struggling, scoring only four goals in the first two games. Evan Rodrigues and Sam Reinhart have scored three goals and three assists while Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk have added four assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that Carter Verhaeghe can step up as he scored 42 goals and 31 assists last season but only has one goal so far.
The offense has struggled but the defense has let the Panthers down, allowing eight goals in the first two games including six goals in their recent defeat. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Gustav Forsling have led the top pairing but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has struggled in the net with a .873 save percentage and a 3.64 goals-against average on 55 shots.
