The Florida Panthers face the Dallas Stars with both teams on opposite ends of the standings this season. The Panthers have an 18-18-4 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division but have won back-to-back games. The Stars have a 23-11-6 record and are in first place in the Central Division but have lost back-to-back games. The Panthers look to improve in the Atlantic Division while the Stars look to remain near the top of the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Panthers are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.28 goals per game with eight goals in the last two games. Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe have scored 38 goals and 41 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart, and Sam Bennett have combined for 29 goals and 52 assists while defensemen Brandon Montour and Gustav Forsling have added 12 goals and 45 assists from the point to help open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.38 goals per game. Gustav Forsling and Joshua Mahura have combined for 4.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has struggled in the net with a .895 save percentage and a 3.26 goals-against average on 708 shots.
