A pair of programs from Conference USA meet on the hardwood as they take the floor in search of a victory in the Bluegrass State. The Florida International Panthers are on the road as they travel to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Thursday night. Florida International comes in off a 78-69 road loss to Liberty in their previous game last Thursday, though they covered the line as a 14-point underdog. Western Kentucky was downed 93-87 on the road by UTEP in their previous game Saturday, failing to cover the line as a 1.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the programs between the teams, the Hilltoppers own a 39-11 advantage but the Golden Panthers took a 78-69 home victory in the most recent matchup on January 26, 2023.

Florida International saw their two-game win streak snapped as they were beaten on the road by Liberty in their previous contest last Thursday. The Panthers fell to 7-12 on the season and stand tied for fourth in Conference USA with a 2-2 mark in conference play. Against Liberty, Florida International trailed by as many as nine in the first half and was down by seven at intermission. The Flames were within four with 6:54 to play before giving up a 9-0 run that left them down 68-55 with 4:51 to play and never made a push from there. Florida International shot 47.5% from the field, including nine of 26 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 37-30 in the contest. Javaunte Hawkins led the Panthers with 24 points in the loss.

The Panthers have racked up an average of 76.3 points per game, putting them 134th in the nation in scoring offense this season. Florida International collects 32.9 rebounds per game while dishing out 15.4 assists a night. The Panthers are 282nd in scoring defense as they give up an average of 75.7 points per contest. Javaunte Hawkins leads the team as he puts up an average of 13.3 points a night. Arturo Dean (12.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.9 steals) is the only other player averaging in double figures on the season. Florida International shoots 45.2% from the field this season. The Panthers knock down 8.6 triples a night while sinking 34.2% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Florida International has struggled t o shoot just 65.7% from the line this season, putting them 328th in the nation.
