Florida International Panthers (4-6) vs. UTEP Miners (4-6)

Week 12 of the 2022 FSB season brings the Conference USA battle between the Florida International Panthers and UTEP Miners. Both teams have to win in order to stay alive in the race for bowl eligibility, so we’re expecting a great game at Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

Florida International opens as a 14-point road underdog with a total of 51.0 points. The Panthers meet the Miners for the first time since 2019 and search for their fourth consecutive victory over UTEP.

The Florida International Panthers (4-6; 4-6 ATS; 2-4 conf.) are coming off a heavy 52-7 defeat to the Florida Atlantic Owls in Week 11. It was their second loss in a row, as the Panthers got trounced by the North Texas Mean Green 52-14 in Week 10. FIU was a complete disaster in the last week’s Shula Bowl, turning the ball over four times and allowing the Owls to score at will.

“Anytime you’re in a lot of third-and-longs, you’re not going to be successful offensively,” FIU head coach Mike MacIntyre said. “And it’s not always running, the short passing game, we just haven’t been able to do it as well as we were for a minute.”

Over the last couple of weeks, the Panthers have had ten first-half drives that ended in either three-and-out or turnover. Sophomore QB Grayson James went just 9-of-26 for 56 yards and a couple of interceptions against Florida Atlantic while carrying the pigskin nine times for 47 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers are scoring just 19.0 points per contest (tied-120th in the nation). They posted 203 rushing yards on 36 totes against FAU, but the Panthers are still averaging 116.2 rushing yards per game (106th). Junior RB Lexington Joseph leads the way for FIU’s backfield with 508 yards and five touchdowns on 94 carries. He’s also recorded 26 receptions for 155 yards and a pair of scores.  < /p>
