The Florida International Golden Panthers are on the road as they make the trip west to take on the New Mexico State Aggies Wednesday night. Florida International had a bye last week: they were drubbed 38-6 at home by Liberty in their previous contest on September 23, failing to cover the line as a 10-point underdog. New Mexico State also comes off a bye: they lost 20-17 to Hawaii on the road in their previous game September 23, pushing the line as a three-point underdog. In the all-time series between the programs, the teams have split two meetings with FIU taking a 21-7 triumph on the road in the most recent matchup on October 1, 2022.

Florida International saw their three-game win streak snapped as they were clobbered at home by Liberty in their previous game. The Golden Panthers fell to 3-2 on the season overall and are 0-2 in conference play after getting burned by the Flames. Against Liberty, Florida International trailed 14-0 less than six minutes into the game and never got closer than eight the rest of the way. The Golden Panthers trailed 24-6 at the half and 38-6 after three quarters before Liberty cruised the rest of the way. Florida International was trounced 520-211 in total offense, allowed 22 first downs while picking up 11 and lost the time of possession by a 33:09 to 26:51 margin in the contest. Those numbers overshadowed that the Golden Panthers forced three turnovers while committing two in the game.

On the year, the Panthers are 97th in the nation in passing offense with 203.6 yards per game through th e air and 113th in rushing offense by grinding out 111.6 yards per contest on the ground. Florida International is 107th in the FBS in scoring offense with an average of 21.4 points per game while they are 75th in scoring defense by allowing 25.6 points per contest.
