No. 14 seeds have never made it past the Sweet 16. And, frankly, they haven't even made it that far in quite some time.

More than half the NCAA Tournaments since the 1985 expansion year have featured at least one No. 14 seed upsetting a No. 3 in the first round.

However, that No. 14 seed almost never consolidates the chance with a second upset in the college basketball betting odds market. Only two No. 14 seeds have ever made it past the first week of the tournament: 1985-86 Cleveland State and 1996-97 Chattanooga.

Even Chattanooga's run in 1997 almost never happened. The Mocs held on to beat Marshall in overtime, 71-70, in the championship round of the SoCon tournament.'
