A season-high four consecutive defeats take the Washington Capitals (6th in Metropolitan Division) to a domestic contest against the Edmonton Oilers (4th in Pacific), who are unbeaten when playing on the road this season.

A second consecutive defeat (0-2-0) came about for the Edmonton Oilers (7-5-0), who rounded off their latest three-game homestand with a 1-2-0 total after dropping a 6-2 decision against the Dallas Stars at Rogers Place on Saturday. Leon Draisaitl (7 goals, 23 points this year) scored during power play midway through the second period to cut the initial 2-0 lead of the Stars in half, while Darnell Nurse (3 goals, 8 points) tallied at the start of the final third to cut it to 4-2, only for the visitors to bank two more snipes subsequently. For the next four fixtures, Edmonton now goes on the road, where it is unbeaten this season (3-0-0).

Goalie Jack Campbell stopped 30 shots on Saturday to take his current performance total to 5-3-0 for the rolling year with a 4.20 GAA and a .874 save percentage.
