The Edmonton Oilers face the Pittsburgh Penguins with both teams looking to improve off of promising seasons. The Oilers have a 31-19-8 record and are in the middle of the Pacific Division while the Penguins have a 27-20-9 record but have lost three games in a row. Both teams look to improve within their divisions and the playoff picture and the upcoming game looks to be a great one.

The Oilers are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.76 goals per game with 17 goals in the last four games. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have scored 78 goals and 112 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Ryan-Nugent Hopkins, Zach Hyman, and Evander Kane have combined for 63 goals and 93 assists while defensemen Darnell Nurse and Tyson Barrie have added 16 goals and 52 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.26 goals per game. Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci have combined for 5.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Stuart Skinner who has a .913 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against average on 999 shots with 7.3 goals saved above average.
