The Edmonton Oilers face the Minnesota Wild in a matchup between two of the better teams in the Western Conference. The Oilers have a 16-12 record and with back-to-back wins have improved to fourth place in the Pacific Division. The Wild have a 14-11-2 record and have seven wins in their last 10 games. Both teams are looking to continue to gain ground in their divisions and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Oilers are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.64 goals per game including 13 goals in the last two games. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have scored 44 goals and 56 assists as two of the best scorers in the league but the entire offense has stepped up. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, and Derek Ryan have scored 27 goals and 31 assists while defensemen Darnell Nurse and Tyson Barrie have added eight goals and 26 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense hopes to improve, allowing 3.46 goals per game. Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci have combined for 3.3 defensive points shares and 97 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and find open shots on the net. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Stuart Skinner who has a .919 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average on 541 shots.
