Edmonton Oilers vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-7-2023

The Edmonton Oilers face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to build off of promising seasons. The Oilers have a 28-18-4 record and with seven wins in their last 10 games, they have leaped to the top of the Pacific Division. The Red Wings have a 21-19-8 record and have won two of their last three games. Both teams look to improve in their divisions and start the second half of the season on the right foot and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Oilers are having a great season led by a dominant offense that is scoring 3.74 goals per game including 23 goals in the last five games. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have scored 70 goals and 98 assists to lead the top two lines but the entire offense has been great. Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Ryan McLeod have combined for 56 goals and 79 assists while defensemen Tyson Barrie and Darnell Nurse have added 13 goals and 46 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.22 goals per game. Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci have combined for 5.6 defensive point shares and 167 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Stuart Skinner who has a .914 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against average on 907 shots.
