Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-29-2022

Edmonton Oilers (5-3-0) vs. Calgary Flames (5-1-0)

The second Battle of Alberta of the 2022-23 NHL season is upon us, as the Edmonton Oilers take on the Calgary Flames on Saturday, October 29, at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary with the puck drop at 10:00 PM ET.

Two weeks ago, the Flames outlasted the Oilers 4-3 as +115 road dogs with a total of 7.0 goals. Calgary opens as a -130 fave this time around, while the totals are listed at 7.0 goals once more.

The Edmonton Oilers extended their winning streak to three games last Thursday, outlasting the Chicago Blackhawks 6-5 as firm -210 road favorites on the second night of a back-to-back set. After defeating the St. Louis Blues 3-1 as -120 favorites on Wednesday, the Oilers barely survived the Chicago game, rallying from a one-goal deficit three times, while Leon Draisaitl broke a 5-5 tie with just 38 seconds left on the clock in the third period.

Connor McDavid had a hat trick against the Blackhawks including a couple of power-play goals. The Oilers went 3-for-7 with the man advantage and killed eight of Chicago’s ten power-play opportunities.

“It was a wild one, for sure,” McDavid said. “Lots of ups and downs. It was fun, a lot of emotions. Lots to build on and get better on. Some nights you have your stuff and this was one of those nights. I felt pretty good all night, made some things happen. A lot of guys stepped up.”

Jack Campbell yielded five goals on 36 shots against Chicago, and the 30-year-old netminder is now 4-2-0 with a 3.89 GAA and .888 save percentage in 2022-23. Campbell started between the pipes in that narrow loss to Calgary, allowing four goals on just 11 shots before leaving the ice midway through the first period. Stuart Skinner posted 31 saves in relief, and he’s 1-1-0 with a 1.44 GAA and .957 save percentage in three appearances this season.

The Oilers rank third in the NHL in goals for (3.88 per game) and 23rd in goals against (3.25). They are 10-for-29 with the man advantage, but the Oilers have also allowed ten power-play goals on 40 opportunities.
