The Edmonton Oilers face the Anaheim Ducks with both teams looking to improve from rocky seasons. The Oilers have a 21-18-3 record and are in fifth place in the Pacific Division while the Ducks have a 12-25-4 record which is second-worst in the Western Conference. Both teams look to improve in the Western Conference and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Oilers are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.50 goals per game. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have scored 56 goals and 83 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, and Kailer Yamamoto have scored 43 goals and 60 assists while defensemen Darnell Nurse and Tyson Barrie have added 11 goals and 39 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let the Oilers down this season, allowing 3.38 goals per game including nine goals in the last two games. Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci have combined for 4.8 defensive point shares and 138 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and find open shots on the net. Moreover, goaltender Jack Campbell has been awful with a .877 sav e percentage and a 3.68 goals-against average on 513 shots.
