Eastern Michigan (EMU) vs. Kent State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-16-2022

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (6-4, 4-5-1 ATS, 5-5 O/U) collide with the Kent State Golden Flashes (4-6, 4-6 ATS, 3-6-1 O/U) in a MAC battle on Wednesday night. The Eagles posted a road win against Akron last week. The Golden Flashes logged a dominating road win against Bowling Green in their previous action. Kent State recorded a 27-23 home victory against Eastern Michigan last season.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles are seeking a second consecutive win. They rebounded from a narrow home loss against Toledo by defeating Akron 34-28 last week in a clash that had Eastern Michigan labeled as six-point favorites. The win was a big one, securing bowl eligibility. The Eagles are battling for positioning in the MAC West, standing in second place with three other squads with an even 3-3 record. They have covered the spread in two out of their last three games.

Akron has used two QBs. Austin Smith got the start against Akron and has been subpar, recording 774 passing yards and a 57% completion efficiency along with a 7:4 TD to INT ratio. Taylor Powell is the #1 QB but has been dealing with injuries and did not play last week. He has 1232 passing yards and an 8:7 TD to INT ratio.

Samson Evans is an outstanding runnin g back. The senior amassed 133 rushing yards in the victory last week but exited with a neck injury and is listed as questionable. Evans has collected 855 rushing yards. Tanner Knue has made at least three receptions in three straight games. The senior WR has brought in a team-leading 366 yards. The Eastern Michigan offense has scored 24 or fewer points in three out of their last four games.

The Eagles' defense has been hit or miss. They limited Arizona State to only 21 points early in the season but also squandered 39 points in a defeat against Northern Illinois. They conceded 386 total yards against Akron last week. The pass defense is 58th while the rush defense is marked 87th. Eastern Michigan is scoring an average of 27.7 points, landing them 75th. They are conceding an average of 30 points, positioning them 97th in the FBS.
