Eastern Kentucky vs. Charlotte Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-22-2023

Charlotte (21-14 SU, 21-13-1 ATS) faces Eastern Kentucky (23-13 SU, 22-10-1 ATS) for the CBI Championship on Wednesday at 5pmET from Daytona (ESPN2).

The 49ers beat Milwaukee 76-65 on Sunday and took apart Radford 63-56 as a 5-point favorite on Tuesday to reach the final. The Colonels of Eastern Kentucky needed to go overtime in all three games to beat Cleveland State, Indiana State and Southern Utah.

When you play three games in three nights, the offense isn't always going to be there. In their win over Radford on Tuesday, Charlotte held the Highlanders to 41% shooting and more importantly 2-of-13 (15%) from long range. The 49ers were able to play their pace, and for the most part, they were efficient, making 47% of their shots (6-of-21 3pt). Brice Williams led the 49ers with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but also committed four turnovers and shot just 3-of-11 from the field (0-5 3pt). Guard Lu'Cye Patterson stepped up with 13 points and was 6-of-6 from the line. He's not scored in double figures in five straight games.

Williams (6-7, 215) is the team's best player and produced 25 points in their 76-65 win over Milwaukee on Monday and 20 in Sunday's win over Western Carolina. Williams, who is averaging 13.5 points per game on 48.3% shooting (41% 3pt), has been spectacular in postseason, averaging 19 points per game including in Conference USA Tournament.

On the season, the 49ers are averaging 66.8 points (305th) and shooting 46.8% from the field (37.5% 3pt). So this team is all about a slow pace and being efficient when they get the ball. Defensively, they are allowing 62.6 points per game on 43.4% shooting (34.4% 3pt).
