It’s a matchup of AAC programs as they do battle in search of a conference victory on the hardwood in the Yellowhammer State. The East Carolina Pirates are on the road as they make the trip to take on the UAB Blazers Saturday afternoon. East Carolina comes in off a 60-59 road loss to North Texas in their previous contest Wednesday night, though they covered the line as a three-point underdog. UAB rolled to an 83-69 home win over Tulane in their most recent game Wednesday night, covering the line as a two-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Blazers own a 12-6 advantage but the Pirates have won the last three meetings. That includes a 74-67 road win in the most recent matchup on February 1, 2014.

East Carolina dropped their second straight and their fourth in the last six games as they were edged on the road by North Texas Wednesday night. The Pirates tumbled to 9-9 overall and stand tied for eighth in the AAC with an 2-3 conference mark. Against North Texas, East Carolina led by as many as seven in the first half but trailed by four at intermission. The Pirates trailed by as many as seven in the second half, rallied to lead by as many as five and took the lead for the final time with three seconds remaining, only to give up the game-winning layup with a second to play. East Carolina shot 41.7% from the field, including eight of 22 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 40-28. RJ Felton led the way for the Pirates with 16 points and six rebounds in the loss.

The Pirates are putting up an average of 71.4 points per game so far this season, which puts them 259th in scoring offense this season. East Carolina collects 35.4 rebounds per game while dishing out 11.8 assists per contest.
