Duke couldn't hang with Florida State last Saturday, as the Seminoles closed the game with a 21-0 scoring run in the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils led 20-17 at halftime but didn't score a single point in the second half. FSU outgained Duke 420-273 and held QB Riley Leonard to 69 passing yards and an interception. The junior signal-caller was also knocked from the game in the third quarter with an injury.

The Blue Devils score 29.6 points per game (60th) and average 370.7 total yards (80th), including 173.3 passing yards (115th) and 197.4 rushing yards (19th). They convert 35.6 percent of their third-down attempts (89th) and score on 78.9 percent of their red zone trips (94th).

Leonard's status is uncertain for Saturday's game. He pleaded with coaches to return to action against the Seminoles, but coach Mike Elko said he “didn’t feel co mfortable with where he was health-wise to bring him back.” The Devils managed just 35 yards after Leonard exited with backup QB Henry Belin under center.

Duke did manage to run the football effectively against the Seminoles' defense, turning 35 carries into 197 yards. Its 19th-ranked rushing attack is led by senior RB Jordan Waters (78 carries for 465 yards and nine TDs) and junior RB Jaquez Moore (69 carries for 390 yards and three scores).

The Duke defense surrenders 13.9 points (5th) and 315.9 total yards (24th) per game, including 179.4 passing yards (16th) and 136.4 rushing yards (62nd). The Blue Devils have 15 sacks and six interceptions this season. Their opponents have converted 38.8 percent of their third down attempts (71st) and scored on only 58.8 percent of their red zone trips (2nd). Duke is fifth nationally in stop rate (78.8%), the percentage of a defense’s dri ves that end in punts, turnovers, or a turnover on downs. It gives up 1.26 points per drive.
