A pair of ACC programs do battle on the hardwood as they look to pick up a victory in conference play in the Bluegrass State. The #7 Duke Blue Devils are on the road as they travel to take on the Louisville Cardinals Tuesday night. Duke comes in off a tough 80-76 home loss to Pitt Saturday in their previous contest, losing outright as a 12.5-point favorite. Louisville was clobbered 90-65 on the road by Wake Forest in their previous game Saturday, failing to cover the line as a 16-point underdog. In the all-time series between the programs, the Blue Devils own a 13-9 advantage and have won the last three meetings. That includes a 79-62 home win in the most recent matchup on February 20, 2023.

Duke saw their eight-game win streak snapped as they were beaten at home by a Pitt team they demolished by 22 on the road less than two weeks before Saturday night. The Blue Devils fell to 13-4 overall and stood 4-2 in the ACC, leaving them fifth in the conference. Against Pitt, Duke trailed 9-0 out of the gate early and was down as many as 11 in the opening half before cutting the margin to four at intermission. The Blue Devils took their last lead at 65-64 with 7:03 remaining before giving up an 8-2 run that left them down 72-67 with 3:22 to play. They were unable to get closer than one the rest of the way in the loss. Duke shot 44.9% from the field, including 11 of 28 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 32-25 in the game while allowing Pitt to shoot 50.8% from the floor. Jared McCain led the Blue Devils with 20 points in the loss.

The Blue Devils enter this contest 33rd in the nation in scoring offense with 81.6 points per game this season. Duke is 198th in rebounding with 35.5 boards a night and stand 37th in assists with 16.4 assists per game. The Blue Devils are 71st in the country in scoring defense by allowing 66.9 points per game. Kyle Filipowski leads four Duke players in double figures with 18.2 points plus 8.6 rebounds per contest this season. Jeremy Roach (14.6 points, 3.2 assists), Jared McCain (12.2 points, 3.9 rebounds), Mark Mitchell (12.2 points, 5.6 boards) and Tyrese Proctor (9.7 points, 3.9 assists) each are good secondary options this season. Caleb Foster, Jaylen Blakes, Sean Stewart, TJ Power and Ryan Young all are important role players for coach Jon Scheyer this season. Duke is shooting 48.3% from the field as a team this season, which is 34th in the nation. The Blue Devils are knocking down 8.2 triples a nigh t despite shooting 37.9% from beyond the arc on the year. Duke is good at the free throw line, cashing in 74.7% of their attempts on the year, putting them 67th in the nation.

Mitchell (knee) has missed the last two games while Roach (knee) missed Saturday’s contest. Both are questionable for this contest so watch for updates.
