The Duke Blue Devils will head down Tobacco Road to face the North Carolina Tar Heels in ACC Play from the Dean Smith Center on ESPN. The Carolina-Duke rivalry is one of the best in all of sports, and last year’s three-piece in Coach K’s final season was extremely climatic. UNC leads the all-time series, 143-116, but Duke did win the first meeting this season at home.
Duke improved to 22-8 after defeating N.C. State at Cameron Indoor. The Blue Devils went back-and-forth with the Wolfpack before coming away with a four-point win, 71-67. Duke is scoring 72.1 points per game, while allowing 64.0 ppg, and shooting 44.6% from the floor.
Duke responded to a pair of road losses with five straight wins, and they enter this rivalry spot with a trip to the Dance safe and sound. The Blue Devils are 13-6 in ACC play, with a 3-6 road record. Freshman forward Kyle Filipowski grabbed 14 boards against N.C. State, and he leads Duke in scoring (14.8) and rebounding (9.0). Junior guard Jeremy Roach had another strong late season outing, scoring a team-high 20 points in the win over the Wolfpack, and he’s up to 13.2 ppg and a team-lead 3.3 apg. Duke’s touted freshman class has started to step up big down the stretch, with guards Tyrese Proctor and Dariq Whitehead playing well alongside Roach in the backcourt, and Mark Mitchell and Dereck Lively II beefing up the front line with Flip.
