It's no surprise that the Dolphins looked much better last week in Tagovailoa's return game. After all, Miami is 10-2 straight up in the 24-year-old's last 12 starts. A matchup against the middling Lions is exactly what the Dolphins need to continue that trend.
Though the Lions began the year with one of the NFL's best offenses, that production has dried up completely. Detroit has been held to six total points over its last two games, having not scored a touchdown since the fourth quarter of their Week 4 outing against the Seattle Seahawks.

That's how bad the Lions' defenders have been and while the Dolphins' offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders, the team has averaged a respectable 24.8 PPG in the four games that Tagovailoa finished this season.
Throw in the fact that the Dolphins have the much better defense of the two teams and it's clear that Miami should win this game. While a moneyline bet is fine here, the Dolphins are good enough to cover the 4-point spread.
Nevertheless, both teams also have several offensively talented players. Even with the Lions' struggles, the Dolphins have allowed 27-plus points on three occasions, so I'll back the total going over 42.5 points.
