The St. Louis Cardinals (10-24 will take on the Detroit Tigers (15-17) Sunday in the final game of a three-game series. Detroit won the first game 5-4 Friday, and 6-5 in 10-innings on Saturday.
After coming into the season with low expectations and getting off to a slow start the Detroit Tigers have picked up steam, winning their fifth straight game on Saturday. The Tigers winning streak started with a strong home three-game sweep over the New York Mets, where they got wins over former Tigers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. Detroit is now second in the AL Central just 3.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins.

On Saturday Detroit fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, and 5-3 in fifth inning, but battled back to get the victory. Spencer Torkelson led the way with two RBI, and Riley Greene went 3 for 5 with an RBI. Detroit had plenty of scoring chances and went 5 for 15 with runners in scoring position.
Right-hander Alex Faedo will make his 2023 big league debut on Sunday. Last season he went 1-5 with a 5.53 ERA. The Detroit bullpen is 21st with a 4.14 ERA. The biggest strength for Detroit has been in the field, where defensively, they are tied for second in all of ML with +17 runs saved.
