Detroit Tigers vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-3-2022

The Detroit Tigers hope to continue their strong close to an otherwise dismal season as they head to Seattle to take on the playoff-bound Mariners. Detroit recently came off a season-best six-game winning streak and have gotten quality performances from some of their young pitchers in recent weeks. Seattle, meanwhile, is primed for their first playoff appearance in over 20 years and and is still battling for playoff seeding. The pitching matchup for Monday night features Bryan Garcia (1-0, 3.29) of the Tigers taking on George Kirby (8-4, 3.21) of the Mariners. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40pm EST.

The Tigers head into Seattle with some optimism to close out the season. The team has been able to audition some of its young pitching over the past few weeks and have gotten some contributions from some of their young bats. There is still much work to be done in Motown but the ending of the season has been promising. On Sunday afternoon, in the final game of their series with Minnesota, the Tigers beat the Twins 5-2 for their seventh win in eight games. Eric Haase hit his 14th home run as he closes the season on fire, hitting .375 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI in the eight game stretch.

The Tigers will have a busy offseason as they sort out the veterans worth keeping and look to add a few bats to a toothless lineup. The Tigers will finish the season dead last in runs per game and will need to add some pop to a lineup that lacked extra-base hit potential this season. On the mound on Monday night will be reliever turned starter Bryan Garcia. Garcia has made just one start in three appearances this season and three in 75 career appearances. The 27 year-old will have the chance on Sunday to showcase his talents to the new Tiger President, Scott Harris.
