The Detroit Tigers suddenly find themselves in the thick of the AL Central Division race after reeling off five straight wins and briefly taking over second place in the division. This is from a team that finished in last place in 2022 and had one of the league's worst offenses. On Sunday, the five-game streak came to an end in a 12-6 loss to the Cardinals in St. Louis. Detroit fell behind 3-0 before rallying for five runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-3 lead. The bullpen couldn't hold it, however, allowing the Cardinals to pound out seven runs in their half of the sixth inning. Spencer Torkelson homered and had two hits in the loss.
