Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-25-2022

This Sunday the (58-92) Detroit Tigers and the (76-75) Chicago White Sox will play the final game of this three-game series. The first pitch will be thrown out at 2:10 PM EST inside Guaranteed Rate Field. The last time these two teams matched up, the White Sox ended up stealing two of three games. The Tigers did steal game one of this series, though.

The Detroit Tigers are coming into this one after winning their previous series against the Baltimore Orioles. The Tiger's bats were on fire in game one of that series, as they scored 11 runs. They will need to stay hot at the dish in this one if they want to take down the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox are entering this series after being swept by the Cleveland Guardians in their previous series. The White Sox couldn't get their bats to warm up, as they only scored four combined runs in the final two games. They will also need to warm up at the dish if they want to finish this series strong.

This game was written/published before last night's results.

The Tigers are currently 4-6 in their last 10 games played, as their poor play has taken them out of the AL Wild Card race. They trail the Seattle Mariners by 24.0 games, as they will not be playing in the postseason in 2022. Detroit is also still in dead last place in the AL Central, as they trail the Guardians by 25.5 games.

At the plate, the Tigers are currently scoring 3.44 runs per game and they are hitting .229 as a team, as this is the least amount of runs scored per game and the fourth lowest overall team batting average. They have failed to consistently reach base safely this season, which has made it much more difficult to score. They have also realized that they have very little power littered throughout their lineup. The Tigers are only hitting .67 home runs per game, which is the lowest average in the MLB. I would expect the Tigers to stay conservative once they have reached base safely, as well. They hav e only stolen 42 bases this season, which is the second least in the MLB.

According to MLB.com, the Tigers will be starting Tyler Alexander on the mound. He is currently 4-10 with a 4.91 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. In his last start, he pitched for 7.0 innings and he gave up two hits and zero earned runs. He completely shut down the Orioles in that one. Alexander is 2-7 on the road with a 6.14 ERA, though. The Tiger's bullpen has held its own in 2022. They are currently allowing 3.50 runs per game, which is the ninth least in the MLB. As a team, the Tigers are surrendering 4.58 runs per game, which is the 20th most.
