The Detroit Tigers (7-11, 3rd AL Central) will play the third and final game of a three game set on the road Sunday when paying a visit to Camden Yards to play the Baltimore Orioles (12-7, 2nd AL East). Detroit lost its second straight when falling to Baltimore 2-1 in Friday's opening game of the series. Baltimore's Adam Frazier hit a grounder in the bottom of the 19th that brought home Ryan Mountcastle from third to give the Orioles a walk-off victory. Baltimore has won each of its last four. Detroit will play without four pitchers as well as position player Austin Meadows. Baltimore will play without three pitchers, while position player Jorge Mateo is questionable.

Detroit has scored 58 runs this season which is last in baseball and the Tigers are also last in both batting average at .216 and on base percentage with .274. Detroit improves to 28th or second from last in slugging percentage at .334. Nick Maton and Kerry Carpenter are the team leaders in home runs for Detroit with three each. Spencer Torkelson and Maton each have 9 RBI to lead Detroit. The Tigers have hit 27 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs through the first 18 games.

 

Detroit also struggles on the mound as the Tigers are 24th in team ERA at 5.03 and 14th WHIP at 1.30. Detroit's starting rotation has only two Quality Starts which is next to last in baseball and the pitching staff is holding opponents to a batting average of .250 which is 17th. Eduardo Rodriguez is the leader in strikeouts with 19 and the leade r in ERA for starters at 3.00. Matthew Boyd gets the nod on the mound Sunday for Detroit. This season the southpaw is 0-1 with an ERA of 4.50 and 11 strikeouts.
