The Detroit Red Wings face the Vancouver Canucks in the second game of a home-and-home series with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Red Wings have a 23-20-8 record but have won back-to-back games while the Canucks have a 21-28-4 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games have fallen to the bottom of the Pacific Division. Both teams look to improve in their divisions and the playoff picture and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.
The Red Wings are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.00 goals per game with seven goals in the last two games. Dylan Larkin and Dominik Kubalik have scored 32 goals and 50 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Lucas Raymond, Andrew Copp, and David Perron have scored 34 goals and 57 assists while defensemen Filip Hronek and Moritz Seider have added 11 goals and 51 assists from the point to help open up the offense.
The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.24 goals per game. Filip Hronek and Jake Walman have combined for 5.9 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Ville Husso has struggled with a .903 save percentage and a 2.94 goals-against average on 1088 shots with -2.5 goals saved above a verage.
