Detroit Red Wings vs. San Jose Sharks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-17-2022

Detroit Red Wings (7-5-4) vs. San Jose Sharks (6-9-3)

The NHL betting action continues Thursday, November 17, with 13 games around the league including the cross-conference battle between the Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose.

Detroit meets San Jose for the first time this season, and the Red Wings open as slight +111 road underdogs with a total of 6.0 goals. They split a two-game set in 2021-22, and each team emerged victorious on the home ice.

The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at the Anaheim Ducks this past Tuesday. They had a one-goal lead twice but couldn’t hold on, allowing the Ducks to tie the game at 2-2 with just 47 seconds left on the clock in the third period. Detroit outshot Anaheim 33-30, while Jonatan Berggren and Michael Rasmussen found the back of the net each.

“We had a really good start to the season, and we’ve been competitive in this league, because we take the risk out of our game,” Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde said. “Unfortunately, a couple of times throughout that third period and especially in overtime, we got away from that.”

Ville Husso posted 27 saves last Tuesday and fell to 5-2-3 on the season. He holds a solid 2.56 GAA and .918 save percentage, while Alex Nedeljkovic is 2-3-1 with a 4.33 GAA and .873 save percentage. Husso should get his second straight start Thursday in San Jose.

The Red Wings are yielding 3.25 goals per game (tied-18th in the NHL) while scoring 2.88 in a return (22nd). They are 12-for-61 with the man advantage (23rd) and 40-of-51 with the man down (16th).
