The Detroit Red Wings face the Pittsburgh Penguins with both teams looking to build off strong starts to the season. The Red Wings have a 14-11-7 record and are in the middle of the Atlantic Division while the Penguins have a 19-10-5 record and are near the top of the Metropolitan Division. Both teams are looking to gain ground in their divisions and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Red Wings are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.03 goals per game with 10 goals in their last two games. Dylan Larkin, David Perron, and Dominik Kubalik have scored 33 goals and 50 assists to lead the top two lines but the entire offense has stepped up. Lucas Raymond, Andrew Copp, and Michael Rasmussen have combined for 17 goals and 34 assists while defensemen Filip Hronek and Olli Maatta have added 10 goals and 27 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.22 goals per game. While Hronek and Maatta have contributed 4.3 defensive point shares, the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will.
