The Detroit Red Wings face the Ottawa Senators with both teams looking to build off of strong starts to the season. The Red Wings have a 3-1 record and are tied for first place in the Atlantic Division. The Senators lost their opening night game but three wins in a row have them atop the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to leap into first place in the division and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Red Wings are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 4.75 goals per game with 16 goals in the last three games. Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Larkin have scored six goals and eight assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Andrew Copp, Daniel Sprong, and J.T. Compher have combined for six goals and four assists while defensemen Moritz Seider and Shayne Gostisbehere have added two goals and five assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has carried the Red Wings but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.75 goals per game. Moritz Seider and Jake Walman have led the top pairing but the rest of the unit has stepped up as well with Ben Chiarot, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Jeff Petry creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net. The hope is that goaltender Ville Husso improves as he has struggled with a .881 save percentage and a 3.37 goals-against average on 84 shots.
