The Detroit Red Wings face the New York Rangers in a matchup between two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. The Red Wings have a 7-4-1 record and are in second place in the Atlantic Division while the Rangers have an 8-2-1 record and have the best record in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to remain near the top of the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Red Wings are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.75 goals per game with five goals in their last game. Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin, and Alex DeBrincat have scored 18 goals and 23 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. J.T. Compher, Daniel Sprong, and David Perron have combined for eight goals and 15 assists while defensemen Moritz Seider and Shayne Gostisbehere have added four goals and 16 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.08 goals per game. Jake Walman and Justin Holl have combined for 1.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Ville Husso has been awful with a .896 save percentage and a 3.37 goals-against average o n 259 shots with -2.3 goals saved above average.
