The Detroit Red Wings face the Colorado Avalanche with both teams looking to improve on promising seasons. The Red Wings have an 18-16-7 record and are in sixth place in the Atlantic Division while the Avalanche have a 21-17-3 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games have fallen to the middle of the Central Division. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Red Wings are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.10 goals per game including 14 goals in the last three games. Dylan Larkin, Dominik Kubalik, and Lucas Raymond have scored 40 goals and 59 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. David Perron, Andrew Copp, and Michael Rasmussen have combined for 22 goals and 45 assists while defensemen Moritz Seider and Filip Hronek have added 10 goals and 38 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.34 goals per game. Filip Hronek, Olli Maatta, and Jake Walman have combined for 6.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will.
