Detroit Pistons (3-15) vs. Utah Jazz (12-7)
The Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz lock horns at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday night to open their two-game cross-conference set. Detroit plays on the second night of a back-to-back, and Tuesday’s games have been excluded from the analysis.
The Pistons open as 11.5-point road underdogs with a total of 228.0 points. They miss Cade Cunningham (leg) and Isaiah Stewart (foot), while Saddiq Bey (ankle) is questionable to play. On the other side, the Jazz will probably miss Mike Conley (knee), and Rudy Gay (hand) will remain on the shelf for the first straight game.
The Detroit Pistons visited the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night, hoping to snap their seven-game skid. It was the Pistons’ fourth consecutive outing on the road, and they were listed as 6-point underdogs. Detroit has covered the spread three times during that seven-game stretch, and the over has hit on five occasions.
The Pistons have the second-worst defensive rating in the NBA, surrendering 118.6 points per 100 possessions. Last Sunday, they suffered a 137-129 defeat at the Sacramento Kings, who made 55.3% of their field goals. The Pistons shot 52.8% from the field and went 15-for-29 from beyond the 3-point line, but it wasn’t enough. Sacramento outscored Detroit 62-54 in the paint and handed out 29 assists.
Gave it our all.

Detroit’s defense is 27th in the league in field goal percentage (48.3%), ninth in 3-point percentage (34.3%), and 27th in forcing turnovers (13.4 per 100 possessions). On the other side of the ball, the Pistons are tallying 109.4 points per 100 possessions (24th) on 43.3% shooting from the field (30th) and 32.9% from beyond the arc (26th).
With both Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Stewart on the sidelines, keep your eyes on Jaden Ivey (16.8 PPG, 4.1 APG) and Bojan Bogdanovic (20.5 PPG, 41.1 3P%). Bogdanovic has hit a 20-point mark in five of the previous six games and will play against his former team Wednesday.
