The Pistons improved to 2-1 on the season and stand tied for second in the Central Division, half a game behind the Pacers. Against Chicago, Detroit led by three after the opening quarter and by 13 at the half before seeing Chicago slice the margin to three midway through the third quarter. The Pistons regrouped and outscored Chicago 34-25 in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Detroit shot 52.3% from the field, including 12 of 28 from beyond the arc, and dominated the boards by a 53-32 margin. Cade Cunningham led five Pistons in double figures with 25 points and 10 assists in the win.

On the year, the Pistons are 17th in the league in scoring offense as they average 110.3 points a game.
