Detroit Pistons vs. New York Knicks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-21-2022

The New York Knicks will look to get their first win of the season Friday when they host the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks are 0-1 on the season, losing the opener to the Grizzlies, while the Pistons are 1-0 after beating the Magic. The Knicks have won 8 in a row against Detroit, including three wins last season. They have covered in 7 of the last 8 games head to head.

It is that time of year when every team has hope, because you just never know which team is going to unexpectedly emerge. Two years ago, the Knicks were that team, surprising everyone with a playoff run. Last season, the Wizards got off to a great start, only to falter as the season wore on. Will the Pistons be that team that surprises early on? They have accumulated a lot of young talent and at some point, things should start to click. They clicked in game one as the Pistons beat the Orlando Magic 113-109 at home, covering as a 3.5 point favorite.

Detroit only shot 42.6% from the floor and were out rebounded, but they turned Orlando over 18 times, to just 12 for them, and won both the three point shooting and free throw battle. New pickup Bojan Bogdanovic delivered some badly needed offense for Detroit, scoring 24 points with 6 three pointers. This type of sniper was badly needed last year. Rookie Jaden Ivey also impressed in his first game with 19 points and 3 steals, while last year's No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham did his thing with 18 points and 10 assists. Another rookie, Jalen Duran, turned some heads with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Big man Isaiah Stewart added 14 points.
