They were last in the East, 30.5 games behind Milwaukee for the top spot, 19.5 games behind Brooklyn for the final guaranteed spot and 15.5 games behind Chicago for the final spot in the play-in tournament. Against Chicago, Detroit trailed by as many as 15 in the first quarter only to trim the margin to two at the end of one quarter. The Pistons trailed by 15 at the half, by 21 late in the third quarter and by 15 after three before charging back. Detroit rallied to tie the game several times, the last at 112 with 1:50 remaining in the game, and was within two with the ball as the clock was under 10 seconds. Jalen Ivey called a time out the Pistons didn’t have, lead ing to a technical foul: Chicago hit their free throws and hung on for the win. The Pistons shot 50% from the floor, including 14 of 35 from three-point range, but turned the ball over 16 times in the loss. Bojan Bogdanovic led Detroit with 34 points in the loss.

Duren (ankle) last played on February 23 and has missed the last three games. Stewart (hip) has missed two straight games while Livers (ankle) missed the March 1 game against the Bulls.
