Detroit has been the worst team in the NBA so far this season, entering Friday’s slate with a league-worst 8-26 record. The Pistons have lost seven of their last eight games, and there is not much light at the end of the tunnel following top player Cade Cunningham’s decision to have season-ending surgery. Cunningham was averaging 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game through the 12 contests that he played in. Detroit riding a four-game losing streak coming into this matchup, with its most recent setback being a 113-93 loss at Philadelphia on Wednesday. The Pistons’ lone win during their recent losing skid came in overtime at Charlotte earlier this month.

They shot just 39.2% from the floor in their loss to Philadelphia, including a 6 of 23 mark from 3-point range. One positive takeaway from that game was their rebounding numbers, as they outrebounded the 76ers by a 58-53 mark. They were unable to overcome their poor shooting and 22 turnovers, though, as Philadelphia easily covered the 12-point spread. Detroit’s offense has been among the worst in the NBA this season, ranked No. 23 in points per game (110.8). Small forward Bojan Bogdanovic leads the team with 20.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, while rookie shooting guard Jaden Ivey is scoring 15.6 points and dishing out 3.9 assists. They will be facing an Atlanta defense that is No. 19, allowing 115.2 points per game.
